Bruce Lord Wilder

Bruce Lord Wilder is Of Counsel to Wilder & Mahood. He is a 1986 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and also holds an M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Medicine (1966) and the M.P.H. degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health (1970). His areas of interest in the law include genetic and reproduction technology; the protection of confidentiality of medical information, with particular emphasis on genetic information and health information technology (HIT); and hospital medical staff and physician disciplinary matters.

He has written and lectured extensively on the law of assisted reproduction technology. Mr. Wilder is a former Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Medical and Health Related Issues Interdisciplinary Committee, and of the ABA Section of Family Law's Committee on the Law of Genetic and Reproduction Technology. He has been a member of the ABA Special Committee on Bioethics and the Law for several years. He has represented the American Bar Association as a member of the National Coalition on Oversight of Assisted Reproductive Technology (NCOART) for several years. He currently serves on the Ethics Committee of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

He has been a member of Council of the Health Law Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association for several years, and is a Fellow of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation, the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation, and the American Bar Foundation. He is Counsel to the Pennsylvania Neurosurgical Society. Mr. Wilder has been a member of the Legal Committee of the Pittsburgh Aids Task Force, and is a member of the Asylum Network of Physicians for Human Rights. He is a 2007 winner of the Pittsburgh Volunteer in the Arts (VITA) award.
